North of the town of Lancaster the canal heads for the two main Aqueducts. The first, across the A683 trunk road, built in 1961. A short section of the high level canal the leads to the second, a splendid imposing aqueduct across the river Lune, spanning a distance of 600ft, 60ft above the river below.
The canal then turns West towards Hest Bank, meandering among a few council estates and into the countryside, where, as the canal is considerably higher than the surrounding land, the views improve the closer you get to Hest Bank, finally being able to see the sea in Morcambe Bay.
